Jacky Dumas obtained a Ph.D. from Texas Tech University in 2006 and has been teaching in the English Department at 麻豆视频直播 since Fall 2007. Dr. Dumas teaches courses in Rhetoric and Composition, Professional Development, British and American Literature, Literary Genre, and Literary Criticism. He regularly presents papers and chairs panels at the Pop Culture Association National Conference as well as various other literary conferences. A former high school Latin teacher and varsity athletics coach, Dr. Dumas has devoted his professional career to pedagogy. As a comparative classicist, he specializes in the implications of hubris in literature and society, metaphysical detective fiction, and satire. Dr. Dumas began directing the English Capstone in 2009 and assumed Department Chair duties in 2010. Since 2016, he has been serving as the Associate Dean of Humanities. In 2019-2020, he served as the Interim Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences, and in 2021-2022, he served as the Interim Director of Learning Resources. Dr. Dumas has published in The McNeese Review, The Southern Literary Journal, The Comparatist, and Intertexts.
