Dylan Burson 鈥18 pictured what his dream job might look like while he was in college, but never imagined it would be with the Dallas Mavericks.
As a service and retention executive, he works mainly with 500 members who hold season tickets, helping them renew their tickets every year and ensuring they have the best experiences at the games through in-game activities and appreciation events. Because of his love for the job, he was awarded the MVP Award of Service, which recognizes that he is dedicated and consistently works hard, communicates well with his boss and is always looking for ways to improve. This award is given to someone who is selfless in their actions and only thinks about what is good for the team instead of themselves.
鈥淚 was extremely grateful and appreciative of this award,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 put in a ton of work in my season to be the best version of myself, and it鈥檚 definitely rewarding to be recognized.鈥
When asked how one gets the award, Dylan said, 鈥淣ever making an excuse and always finding ways to improve, while at the same time, understanding it鈥檚 not all about me and that I should be helping my teammates around me as well.鈥
His focus is now on helping his teammates achieve their goals.
鈥淚 know I wouldn鈥檛 be in the position I am today without the knowledge and advice I took from others, so if I can even be a small resource for anyone, I鈥檓 always happy to do so. It鈥檚 been much more rewarding helping others achieve their goals than being rewarded for any of mine.鈥
Dylan said he believes 麻豆视频直播 is one of the reasons he is successful at what he does. 麻豆视频直播 was a big part of his life from meeting his wife, Sophia Vieyra 鈥18 at college to making great friends, many of whom served as groomsmen. Ben Taylor, who is associate director of Admissions & Recruiting, even officiated his wedding.
While at college, Dylan loved working as a resident assistant at McLane Hall and developing bonds with all the residents.
