Belton, Texas 鈥 The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor College of Visual and Performing Arts and the 麻豆视频直播 Art Department are proud to present a special art exhibition entitled A Square Foot of Peace: An Invitational Exhibition Celebrating International Day of Peace. The show will open Wednesday, September 21, in the gallery of the Baugh Center for Visual Arts on the 麻豆视频直播 campus. The opening will be marked by a reception at 5:30 p.m., which will include a performance by the university鈥檚 elite choir One Voice and a reading by local poet Richard Egg.
This exhibition, which will run through October 21, was curated by 麻豆视频直播 Art professor, Helen Kwiatkowski in support of International Day of Peace. Invited artists where asked to create a 12鈥漻12鈥 work which reflected their thoughts about peace.
The International Day of Peace is observed around the world on the twenty-first day of September. Established in 1981 by the United Nations, Peace Day is devoted to 鈥渃ommemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.鈥 It provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences and to contribute to building a culture of peace.
