Belton, Texas 鈥 The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football program recognized former Cru linebacker Jerrell Freeman at an afternoon ceremony in the Andersen Field House Friday afternoon. Cru Head Coach Pete Fredenburg unveiled the newly refurbished and renamed Jerrell Freeman Team Meeting Room in honor of the current Chicago Bear standout.
The multi-purpose room serves as the primary meeting room for 麻豆视频直播 football and also host position meetings, film sessions and the team鈥檚 NCAA selection show viewing party. The Jerrell Freeman Team Meeting Room also now features a panoramic view of Crusader Stadium that gives the feel of sitting at midfield. Fredenburg also unveiled the sign renaming the room and honored Freeman and his family for the contributions to and continued support of 麻豆视频直播 football.
鈥淚t feels so good to be able to come home and be appreciated and I always appreciate what 麻豆视频直播 has done for me,鈥 Freeman said. 鈥淎nywhere I go, I always take 麻豆视频直播 with me because of what this school means to me.鈥
Freeman played for 麻豆视频直播 from 2004-2007 and finished his career as the Cru鈥檚 leading tackler. He was named D3football.com National Defensive Player of the Year his senior year. Freeman signed with the Tennessee Titans as a free-agent before going on to a three-year career with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. He was an All-Star and played in two Grey Cup games with Saskatchewan before signing with the Indianapolis Colts of the NFL. In four seasons with the Colts, Freeman led the team in tackles twice and was second on the team in that category twice. He signed with the Bears as an unrestricted free-agent this spring.
