Belton, TX 鈥 On Saturday, October 28, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will host Science Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the York Science Center and Wells Science Hall on the 麻豆视频直播 campus. This event, which is designed to let young people and their families engage with science in fun and exciting ways, is open the public. The price of admission is one non-perishable food item per family.
鈥淭his year we are putting a focus on the event being student-led, student-driven, and student-focused,鈥 Dr. Kaleb Heinrich said.
鈥淲e have around 70 student and faculty volunteers,鈥 Heinrich said. 鈥淚t keeps getting bigger, and bigger. This may be our biggest one yet.鈥
This year鈥檚 event will feature some popular demonstrations and activities from previous Science Saturdays, including a digital experience designed by Computer Science and Engineering students, and pig dissections being conducted by representatives of the Biology Department.
鈥淜ids can put on gloves and explore actual anatomy if they want,鈥 Heinrich said. 鈥淔or some that might be too gross, but others get really excited.鈥
There are also a number of groups that have developed new offerings for this year鈥檚 Science Saturday, including a hands-on genetics activity that challenges them to build their own monster.
Heinrich says that Science Saturday is geared mostly for children under the age of twelve.
鈥淚鈥檓 going to be bringing my two-year-old,鈥 Heinrich said, 鈥渁nd I think there are some things that he will be excited to do.鈥
