Thursday, September 20, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor College of Visual and Performing Arts and the 麻豆视频直播 Art Department will once again host the special art exhibition A Square Foot of Peace, which is an invitational exhibition celebrating International Day of Peace.
The exhibition will open in the lobby of the Baugh Center for Visual Art at 5:30 p.m. The event will feature a special performance by Associate Professor of Vocal Studies, Lisa Clement and readings by poets Donna Bowling and Danielle East.
This exhibition will be on display through Friday, October 26, is curated by 麻豆视频直播 Art professor Helen Kwiatkowski. Invited artists were asked to create 12鈥漻12鈥 works, which reflect their thoughts about peace.
The International Day of Peace is observed around the world on the twenty-first day of September. Established in 1981 by the United Nations, Peace Day is devoted to 鈥渃ommemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.鈥 It provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences and to contribute to building a culture of peace.
Exhibiting artists include Wynona Alexander, Pam Cummings, Gabreille Del La Cruz, Nan Dickson, Barabra Fontaine-White, Alyssa Geiger, John Hancock, Melanie Hickerson, Tom Hicks, David Hill, Ellen Huffman, Nancy Isett, Helen Kwiatkowski, Lori Lamb, Robin McLaurin, Michelle Newton, Victoria Redding, Hershall Seals, Hugo Shi, Matt Smith, Barbara Sorge, Amy Flinn in collaboration with Dawn Curlee Carlson, Brianne McGrath, Tracy McCloud, Valeria Miller, Diana Cowen, Jessica Killough, Olsen, and Ned Ruete.
