Belton, Texas 鈥 On Wednesday, February 6, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor celebrated its 174th birthday. University officials marked the milestone with a short ceremony at the grave of co-founder Robert Emmet Bledsoe Baylor and with a party in the Bawcom Student Union.
Present Randy O鈥橰ear was joined by a group of student ambassadors at Baylor鈥檚 grave, which sits in front of W. W. Walton Chapel on the 麻豆视频直播 campus. O鈥橰ear led the group in a prayer before students placed a wreath on the grave.
鈥淚t鈥檚 special to take a moment and think about the vision that our founders cast so many years ago and the importance they placed on students having the opportunity to enjoy higher education with a Christian foundation,鈥 O鈥橰ear said. 鈥淲e hope and pray that if they were with us today, our founders would be proud of what鈥檚 going on at Mary Hardin-Baylor, of the investment that鈥檚 being made in our students, and of the way their lives are transformed by it.鈥
Following the ceremony, the group moved to the Bawcom Student Union, where O鈥橰ear cut a birthday cake and students, faculty, and staff from around the campus took part in celebrating the occasion.
