BELTON, Texas鈥擳he University of Mary Hardin-Baylor鈥檚 chapter of Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT-麻豆视频直播) is proud to announce they are planting 2,977 American flags at Luther Memorial on the 麻豆视频直播 campus to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. YCT will begin planting flags this evening and plans to have everything installed by Monday morning. This event is one of YCT鈥檚 longest-running traditions.
This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the attacks, which means many current 麻豆视频直播 students were not alive or do not remember the events. For this reason, the importance of this year鈥檚 memorial cannot be understated.
鈥淭his memorial is important to share because of how big of an impact 9/11 had on the U.S. and how desensitized the subject is to our generation today. We must remember what we lost that day and continue pushing for freedom,鈥 said Cassidy Schnoor, Chairman of Young Conservatives of Texas at 麻豆视频直播.
鈥淭he attacks on September 11 were intended to break our country鈥檚 spirit, but instead, we have merged as a country to be stronger and more unified. Our generation needs to honor these men and women who have given their lives after the attacks. This memorial reminds us of the lives lost and why we push our values of freedom,鈥 said Emily Boyd, Vice Chairman of the Young Conservatives of Texas at 麻豆视频直播.
鈥淭his devastating event happened only eleven days before my sister was born. Though I was not alive for any of it, my heart shatters for those who were and still are being affected by the losses 9/11 caused. This memorial is the least I can do to show my highest respect and sincere gratitude for the firefighters and police officers who saved countless lives that day,鈥 said Keely Mills, Media Coordinator for the Young Conservatives of Texas at 麻豆视频直播.
Members of the 麻豆视频直播 and Belton communities are encouraged to attend and pay their respects to the fallen until September 12, when the flags are removed.
