With the development of the brand new state-of- the-art golf course and clubhouse, 麻豆视频直播鈥檚 long standing disc golf course had to be removed from the campus. Jaden Rye, a professional disc golfer and president of the 麻豆视频直播 Disc Golf club spoke on the issue:
鈥淥bviously we loved having such a nice disc golf course right here on campus, but we鈥檙e not going to let this small setback keep us from playing and competing.鈥
The 麻豆视频直播 Disc Golf team will continue to operate and will have their first meeting of the semester when Rye returns from the Pro Disc Golf Association (PDGA) World Championships. The club is open to all 麻豆视频直播 students, and Rye encourages players of all experience levels to come out and participate. While the club is open to beginners, the club also produces a competitive team every year, who will compete against disc golf teams from other colleges in local and national competitions.
鈥淲e鈥檙e competitive every year, and we鈥檙e going up against the biggest schools in Texas and holding our own every time we compete. I can鈥檛 wait to see what we鈥檙e able to do this year,鈥 club member Matt McLlhaney said. McLlhaney participated in both the club and team aspects of 麻豆视频直播 Disc Golf last year.
Due to the removal of their on-campus course, the club will now be meeting at various local disc golf courses such as the one located at Heritage Park in Belton, with plans also in place for a new disc golf course to be built at First Baptist Belton using donated materials from the old 麻豆视频直播 course.
