Texas Common Course Numbering System
The Texas Common Course Numbering System is a voluntary, co-operative effort among Texas community colleges and universities to facilitate transfer of freshman- and sophomore-level general academic coursework.
The TCCNS provides a shared, uniform set of course designations for students and their advisors to use in determining both course equivalency and degree applicability of transfer credit on a statewide basis. When students transfer between two participating TCCNS institutions, a course taken at the sending institution transfers as the course carrying, or cross-referenced with, the same TCCNS designation at the receiving institution.
The TCCNS serves as pre-approval of the listed courses for the corresponding general education requirements. Students will not be required to submit the for listed equivalencies. Equivalencies, nonetheless, are subject to change should the transfer institutions alter course titles and/or content.
To check the equivalency of courses not listed in these tables, send an inquiry to transfertocru@umhb.edu. In the inquiry, include the name of the transfer institution as well as the full course number and title.
